Beyond Automotive LLMs: “Spec to Spreadsheet”

Example of Automotive LLMs and the Spec to Spreadsheet

Table of Contents

Fun news to announce this week! We at Humaxa are rolling out a new feature on our platform called “Spec to Spreadsheet.” What is Spec to Spreadsheet you may ask? In short, it’s a way to ask about a compliance topic, have the system instantly search through hundreds (thousands?) of specifications, regulations, and standards, find each item that pertains to that topic. The system will then generate a spreadsheet for you as a to-do list.

What type of item is it? (Engineering? Design? Safety? Security?)

Who should this task go to?

How was the item verified?

Are there any recommendations for that item?

This is an example of what can be included in the Spec to Spreadsheet checklist.

Let’s look at a use case: I am responsible for Over-the-Air update cyber security in the US and in Europe and I want a checklist that includes each regulation, standard, or specification to ensure we’re being compliant. So I ask Max to generate one for me. (See image)

So what is this really doing for us? The first column shows the document from which the regulation was pulled. The second shows the page number. Pretty basic. The third includes the URL so that a person can dive into the details of exactly where the line-by-line checklist item came from.

Now it starts to get interesting. Column four classifies the requirement: What type of a requirement is it? In the example, all the regulations are related to Cybersecurity or Product. In the fifth column, we have who the checklist item should go to. For now, this is just a piece of data but how about actually sending the checklist time to the person who needs to take a look and weigh in? In the sixth column, we have the AI recommendation. Before you ask about the confidence level of this recommendation, let’s underscore the fact that most AIs (Humaxa’s included) require a bit of training or fine tuning. That’s to be expected.

How would this look for engineers or technicians?

How about for regulatory compliance leaders?

Could project managers at manufacturers or Tier 1 Tier 2 suppliers use this? How?

What about quality assurance specialists?

What suggestions do you have? We’d love to hear your thoughts. Together, let make the work of manufacturing compliance 1000% easier!
